Lunch Break...

Ginger dumpling soup - Ian made it on Saturday, so good.  I'm at work, at my internship.  Today is productive, a little sad.  I've been a little sad since yesterday, but that's not spoiling my day.  I've also been a little anxious, which has lent to me cleaning the kitchen this morning and losing myself in my work all day.  You've gotta make the stress work for you, right?

I'm very productive, on the verge of launching an experimental run of a document prototype I created.  Probably not as interesting as it sounds.  Kind of.  Baby's crying in the background.

Went to church yesterday - it was good, the Rev talked about meditative prayer and what good it may do you.  Went home, hung out with family.  I love hanging out with my family.  Alicia came over and took some shots of my face with a lovely camera.  Then we went to the party.  Stella got to play with Henry, which hasn't happened in a while.  They chased each other around some and did what I call their "Cirque du Soleil" Make Out Thing, where they wind and twist around each other, grabbing and kissing.  It's adorable.  There were lots of kids and parents and non-parents, talking, mingling, eating too much sugar.

I've been told on more than one occasion not to expect too much from my friends.  I don't think I expect too much - I try to expect as much as I have to offer.  Most of the time, this has paid off handsomely.

I bought the new Ani album, Reprieve - I've been listening to it a lot.  It's, as Ian says, "a bit somber."  Which is fine, is fitting.  Anita - I'm sorry I forgot to call you back.

Anyway, back to work.  More later, I'm sure.

Of Interest...

  • Yellow Gurl
This is my art-star poet friend Kelly's website - check it out to follow her shining career and be a poetry/activism enthusiast.
  • Sensual, Ecstatic, Orgasmic Birth!
SO COOL! Lots of stories about women's sensual, ecstatic, orgasmic birthing experiences - a must read as far as I'm concerned. The site is all about unassisted childbirth (which I DO NOT recommend for the untrained and inexperienced), but these stories about the sexual nature of birth are inspiring!
  • Hip Mama
This is an online community for mamas who are hip. The news and articles aren't necessarily kept up on a day-to-day basis, but if you register, their community is pretty live n' thrivin' - each member gets their own blog. And the archives contain useful information, too.
  • INDOOR BOYS
This is my badass friend's supercool website. She is quite the purveyor of... um... attractive young thinmen. If you (or someone you know) fits her profile, you should drop her a line, and get sexily famous.
